"Frankenstein," the 1931 pre-code classic horror movie was released without underscoring. But that changed in 2001 when the Chappaqua Orchestra's Boris Koutzen Memorial Fund commissioned contemporary classical composer and conductor Michael Shapiro to score the film.
Fans of classic movies, Frankenstein, and movie scores will have the chance to hear Shapiro's work in context on Friday, Oct. 28 when he conducts 15 members of The Chappaqua Orchestra for a live performance of the music during a showing of Frankenstein.
The movie will be shown in the Nyack High School auditorium at 8 p.m. The event is made possible by ArtsRock, Rivertown Film Society, and Arts Angels.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 children, and $15 for Arts Angels and Rivertown Film Society members.
