21-Year-Old Woman Struck, Killed By Garbage Truck Yards From Nassau County Mall Police released new details after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a garbage truck just yards from a Long Island shopping mall. The incident happened in Carle Place near the intersection of Old Country Road and Glen Cove Road, near Roosevelt Field Mall, at around 5:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Nassau County Police said a 21-year-old woman was attempting to cross Old Country Road northbound when she was struck by a garbage truck.
