Tributes are flooding in after a car crash claimed the lives of a beloved Long Island business owner and her fiancé. Kaitlyn McCready, 36, of Smithtown and Luis Rivera, 41, of Hauppauge, were both killed in a wreck Thursday, Dec. 12, while returning to New York, according to her obituary. A 50-year-old Connecticut father of four who served as one of New York's Finest during its most trying day has died. Richard "Rick" Stueber Jr. died on Dec. 10. His family did not disclose the cause of death. Stueber had been living in Stratford, CT but was born in Queens, New York, and had deep roots in Long Island law enforcement, according to his obituary shared by Riverhead News and Riverhead Local. A bicyclist has died nearly two weeks after he was struck by an SUV on Long Island. The incident happened in North Bellport, near the intersection of Post and Atlantic avenues, shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. Suffolk County Police said a 44-year-old Bellport woman was driving a 2007 GMC Envoy northbound when she apparently suffered a medical event and struck a bicyclist crossing the road. The identities have been released for five family members who were killed in a murder-suicide in a residential Long Island community. The incident happened just before noon on Sunday, Aug. 25 at a residence on a cul-de-sac in Syosset.
