A routine traffic stop in Hewlett led to the arrest of three people accused of carrying crack/cocaine and heroin — and tied two of them to a theft at an Ulta Beauty, Nassau County police announced on Monday, Jan. 19.
Bureau of Special Operation officers were on patrol when they spotted a 2017 Nissan Altima traveling southbound on Peninsula Boulevard and changing lanes unsafely around 3:31 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, detectives said. Officers pulled the car over and launched an investigation, according to police.

The fourth and final detainee who escaped from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in New Jersey last month was captured Thursday, July 17, in Los Angeles, more than 2,700 miles away, the FBI said.

Amid the avian flu outbreak, authorities are investigating the theft of "high-value goods" from a Pennsylvania business, State Police announced on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Approximately 100,000 organic eggs, valued at $40,000, were stolen from a distribution trailer at Pete and Gerry's Organics in Antrim Township, according to PSP Chambersburg.
The theft occurred sometime overnight on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Commerce Avenue facility, troopers detailed in the release.
