Man Rescued After Crashing 60 Feet Down Into Rocky Embankment In Hudson Valley
A man had to be carried around 60 feet up a rocky Hudson Valley gorge after crashing into it, authorities said. The crash happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Oct. 6, when an all-terrain vehicle crashed down a cliff in Cold Spring at the gorge on Mill Road, according to the North Highlands Fire Department. Arriving firefighters soon made their way to the cliff and packaged the man into a stokes basket before carrying him around 60 feet up the ledge to an awaiting ambulance. A 19-year-old was killed in a two-vehicle crash after he allegedly ran a red light in the region, striking another car. A 69-year-old man from the Hudson Valley was injured in an explosion inside a school district maintenance building in Westchester that also caused a small fire. The incident happened on Tuesday, Aug. 13 just before 1:20 p.m., when an oil tank explosion was reported at a Mamaroneck School District maintenance building and garage at 119 Gertrude Ave., according to Lt. A person was rescued from the water after they were found clinging to a kayak in a Hudson Valley pond.
