This story has been updated. An armed and dangerous man wanted for numerous violent felony crimes in New York City has been shot and killed by New York State Police following a confrontation. The incident began in Orange County on Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Woodbury and ended in Highland Mills. Newly Renovated I-87 Service Area In Sloatsburg Reopened
The New York State Thruway Authority announced the reopening of a newly renovated service area in Hudson Valley. The service area in Rockland County in Sloatsburg is on I-87 northbound between Exit 15A and Exit 16. According to the State Thruway Authority, it is the 19th location overall to open and the first of four to undergo extensive renovations as part of the $450 million private investment to redevelop and modernize all 27 service areas. 22-Year-Old Rockland County Man Killed In Thruway Crash
A 22-year-old Hudson Valley man was killed after allegedly attempting to pass another vehicle on the Thruway. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 11:25 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, on I-87 in Clarkstown. According to the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Michael Dipierno, age 22, of Nyack, was driving a 2005 Honda motorcycle north on I-87 when he attempted to pass a vehicle on the median shoulder and lost control on the rumble strips. Vehicle Catches On Fire On New Tappan Zee Bridge, Impacts Traffic
A vehicle fire impacted traffic on the new Tappan Zee Bridge off the shore of Westchester County. The blaze happened on Thursday, Aug. 22 just before 11 a.m., when a truck caught on fire in the northbound lanes of I-87 on the bridge near the Tarrytown shore, according to the New York State Thruway Authority. The incident temporarily caused the left lane to be completely blocked. 27-Year-Old Killed In Crash On Highway In Westchester
Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash on a highway in Westchester that left a man dead. New York State Police said on Monday, July 8, that the crash happened on Saturday, July 6, just after 10 p.m., when a 2017 BMW motorcycle collided with a guard rail on northbound I-87 in Yonkers.
