Duo Wanted For Armed Carjacking Targeting Woman In Capital Region
A woman escaped unharmed following an armed carjacking in the region. The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, July 25, in Albany near Alexander and Clinton streets. Albany Police said the victim told officers she was sitting in her vehicle when two men approached, one appearing to hold a handgun, and demanded her car. She complied and the suspects fled the scene in her vehicle. The woman was not injured in the ordeal. A pair of new tornadoes have been confirmed in New York this week. Both occurred upstate on Wednesday, July 24, and they come after 10 twisters hit central and northern New York last week. In Oswego County, the first tornado on Wednesday touched down just before 3:30 p.m. in the town of Orwell, about 40 miles north of Syracuse. Woman Injured In Stabbing Attack In Capital Region
A woman is recovering after she was repeatedly stabbed on a residential street in the region. The attack happened in Albany’s Arbor Hill neighborhood, on North Pearl Street near Wilson Street, at around 5:40 p.m. Monday, July 22. Albany Police said officers arrived to find a 46-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds to her arm and leg. She was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital where she remains in stable condition. An aggressive black bear apparently searching for food destroyed the kitchen of an upstate New York home and then returned to the residence shortly after the break in. A man from the region admitted to taking part in a multimillion-dollar fraud scheme that targeted unemployment insurance benefits. Rensselaer County resident Todd Ward, age 45, of Troy, pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) in Albany federal court in late June 2024. Six teenagers are recovering after a shooting at a Fourth of July party in the region.
