A Hudson Valley man was killed when a juvenile backing an SUV into a driveway accelerated and hit the victim. The incident occurred in Orange County at 8:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the village of Kiryas Joel in the town of Monroe. According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a 13-year-old was backing a 2024 Honda Odyssey into the driveway of a residence. Car Engulfed In Flames On Parkway In Hudson Valley A vehicle fire prompted an early morning response on the Taconic State Parkway. The blaze happened on Saturday, Oct. 19 around 8:30 a.m. in Northern Westchester, when an SUV caught on fire on the southbound side in Hawthorne. Arriving fire crews soon found the vehicle consumed by flames and quickly hosed it down, putting the blaze out completely.  The response took around an hour and sent plumes of smoke up into the air on the parkway, as seen in images of the fire released on the Hawthorne Fire Department's social media page.  No injuries were reported.
