Long Island Postal Employee Charged With Stealing Thousands Worth Of Checks From Mail A 42-year-old postal employee is being accused of stealing thousands of dollars in checks from a Long Island mail facility. Aaron Nelson, of Deer Park, was taken into custody Thursday evening, May 30, following an investigation by Suffolk County Police detectives.  It came months after a second suspect, Chrisnell Maitre, of Deer Park, was arrested Thursday, Feb. 29. Scammers Posing As Well-Known Businesses, Agencies: Here's What To Know, Feds Say Federal authorities are sounding the alarm over scams that impersonate well-known businesses and government agencies.  In 2023, data from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alone show more than 330,000 reports of business impersonation scams and nearly 160,000 reports of government impersonation scams. That amounts to nearly half the frauds reported directly to the agency, the FTC said.
