In a post on the social media Truth Social platform early Monday, March 17, Trump declared:
"The ‘Pardons’ that Sleepy Joe Biden gave to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, and many others, are hereby declared VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT, because of the fact that they were done by Autopen."
He further claimed that Biden was unaware of the pardons, adding:
"More importantly, he did not know anything about them!"
Trump’s statement follows Biden’s preemptive pardons of multiple individuals, including lawmakers involved in the January 6 investigation, members of his own family, including his son Hunter, General Mark Milley, and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
While courts have historically upheld a president’s power to grant pardons, Trump suggested the matter is not settled, warning that House committee members should expect intense scrutiny.
The move raises legal and political questions about the validity of Biden’s actions and whether those pardoned could face prosecution under Trump’s administration.
