A Long Island woman tried burning down multiple occupied homes in the Hamptons, a jury found.
Amanda Burnside, 42, of East Quogue, was found guilty of arson and related charges by a Suffolk County jury on Monday, Jan. 27.
Burnside attempted, but ultimately failed, to start fires at two occupied homes in Hampton Bays and succeeded in starting a fire at a third home that was occupied by four people in November 2023, according to the Suffolk County DA’s office.

PA Man Charged In Armed Robbery Of NY Gas Station: Police
An Pennsylvania man is among two suspects arrested for an armed robbery at a gas station in Yaphank, New York, Suffolk County police announced Friday, Jan. 24.
Marion Maupin, 32, of Altoona, Pennsylvania, and Raiquan Davis, 27, of Medford, New York, allegedly robbed an employee at gunpoint at the Shell station located at 482 Sills Road at approximately 7:30 a.m., police said.
The suspects were located shortly afterward on Wilson Avenue in Coram, where police recovered the gun used in the robbery, according to the release.

A woman was arrested following a prostitution raid at a Long Island massage parlor.
Feng-Wei Chen, 50, of Flushing, Queens, was taken into custody following a sting operation at the First Nature Massage and Day Spa on West Jericho Turnpike in Smithtown on Tuesday night, Jan. 21.
Chen was charged with two counts of unauthorized practice of a profession, a felony, and criminal nuisance and prostitution, both misdemeanors, Suffolk County Police said.
