4 Rescued After Sailboat Overturns On Long Island Sound Emergency responders from two counties teamed up to rescue several people after a sailboat overturned on the Long Island Sound. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 Marine 7 of the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit responded for reports of an overturned sailboat.  With the assistance of the Westchester Police Department, all four occupants were removed from the water and the sail boat was towed to shore by Town of North Hempstead Bay Constable.  The FDNY Marine Bureau was also at scene.  There were no injuries reported.

5 Onboard Raft In Distress Rescued On Long Island Sound In Riverhead Five occupants of a raft in distress with insufficient safety gear were rescued on the Long Island Sound. 4 Canoers Rescued From Long Island Sound After Capazing Four canoers were rescued from Long Island Sound after capsizing The incident occurred off Wading River around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21. According to the Suffolk County Police, the four boaters were almost a mile north of Wading River Beach when the two canoes capsized, and the occupants went overboard into 58-degree water.
