A Long Island woman formally accepted responsibility after her dog mauled a 2-year-old boy and injured the child’s uncle. Amy Willi, age 45, of Mastic, pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Prosecutors said Willi opened her front door while the boy was playing in his yard across the street in March 2023. As soon as the door opened, her dog ran outside and went toward the boy. A 20-year-old man will spend decades behind bars for fatally stabbing a man in a Long Island traffic circle in broad daylight. Gelber Lopez-Perez, of Riverhead, was sentenced to 22 years in prison in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, Sept. 10, after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of 26-year-old Tony Fernando Alvarado-Ajcuc. Shotgun-Toting 11-Year-Old Lands Long Island Man In Handcuffs, Police Say
A Long Island man is facing criminal charges after an 11-year-old boy was seen carrying a shotgun outside his home, police said. The incident happened in Bayville, at a residence on 7th Street, at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. Nassau County Police said a 13-year-old boy was riding his bicycle when an 11-year-old boy carrying a shotgun came outside and told the teen to get away from his house.
