Tree Impales Woman Driving On Northern State Parkway This story has been updated. A woman was seriously injured when high winds sent a tree toppling onto her moving car on the Northern State Parkway. The incident happened in Roslyn Heights, in the westbound lanes near exit 29, at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Multiple fire trucks and ambulances responded to reports of a tree onto a vehicle with at least one victim trapped and requiring extrication, according to preliminary radio traffic. Phone Scammer Swindles $32K From Roslyn Heights Woman, Police Say An alleged phone scammer convinced a Long Island woman to fork over tens of thousands of dollars, police said. Nassau County Police said the 65-year-old Roslyn Heights woman contacted the agency on Wednesday, Oct. 16, saying she had been the victim of a scam.
