Body Found On I-90 By DOT Employees In Capital Region: Police New York State Department of Transportation employees made a horrifying discovery while working near I-90 in Rensseleaer, prompting a police investigation. The employees found a body at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, near the Patroon Island Bridge near the eastbound lane in Rensselaer, said Trooper Jennifer Alvarez. The right lane was closed for approximately 1.5 hours for investigation purposes and has since been reopened.  The investigation is ongoing. There is no perceived public threat at this time.

Body Found After Fire At Storage Units In Capital Region State Police are investigating the discovery of a body following a structure fire at a storage facility in the region. Emergency services in Schoharie County responded around 4:10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, to reports of a fire at Superior Storage Units on Main Street in the town of Richmondville.  After firefighters extinguished the blaze, they found the remains of the dead person inside one of the units. Authorities are working to identify the deceased and determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Suspect Apprehended After Troopers Find Him Sleeping With Stolen Goods In Schodack: Police Troopers found a man sleeping in a wooded area with stolen goods following a break-in at a business in the region. State Police in Rensselaer County responded to the incident early Wednesday, Nov. 6, after reports of a past burglary at a business on Maple Hill Road in the town of Schodack. Nicholas T. Layman, age 29, of the town of Nassau, allegedly forced entry into the business around 4:30 a.m., damaging the door and taking items before leaving, said police. Know Him? Police Searching For This Capital Region Burglary Suspect State Police are asking the public for help identifying a man who allegedly committed a burglary. The incident occurred in Saratoga County in October in Halfmoon. According to state police from Clifton Park, the man has a very distinct "518" tattoo on their right hand and a large tattoo on the right side of their neck. Bomb Threat To DEC Office In Region Under Investigation State Police are investigating after a bomb threat was emailed to a government office. in the region. The incident occurred in Ulster County on Monday, Nov. 4, at the State Department of Environmental Conservation, targeting the DEC Region 3 office in New Paltz. According to Trooper Steven Nevel, troopers searched the building and did not find any explosive devices.  The investigation into the threat is ongoing. Traffic Alert: Crash Causes Hours-Long I-87 Closure In Region A fuel tank rollover crash has caused heavy delays on a busy stretch of the New York State Thruway. State Police said the crash has all I-87 southbound lanes closed from Exit 21 in Catskill to Ulster County in Saugerties Exit 20 for at least the next six hours. State police said the crash occurred in Ulster County around 3:50 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, near mile marker 105. No one was injured, but an unknown quantity of diesel fuel spilled and is in the process of being cleaned up.  The southbound lanes will be closed most of the morning until the cleanup is complete, state police said. …
