Road Rage: Shots-Fired Incident Under Investigation In Region
A road-rage confrontation on a busy highway led to the arrest of one man who allegedly fired shots at another car in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, on the Dutchess Turnpike near Degarmo Road in the town of Poughkeepsie. According to Capt. Ralph Cropley of the Poughkeepsie Police, an investigation found that a Dodge Ram and a Honda Accord were involved in the incident, and the driver of the Ram intentionally fired an illegally possessed handgun at the Accord, striking it and causing damage. The gunman in a broad daylight shooting that injured two teenagers outside the New York home of former Rep. Lee Zeldin will spend more than a decade behind bars. Long Island resident Noah Green, age 20, of Shirley, was sentenced to 12 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to attempted murder and related charges. Three suspects from another state face charges after they were caught with four illegally possessed handguns during a Hudson Valley traffic stop, police announced. The arrests were made in Putnam County on Saturday, Sept. 7 around 3 p.m., when police saw a blue Nissan SUV with a Texas registration allegedly fail to use its turn signal while turning onto Route 6N from Mahopac Plaza, the Carmel Police Department announced on Monday, Sept. 9. Capital Region Man Killed By Trooper After Pulling Gun, Police Say
A distraught man from the region who threatened self-harm was shot and killed by New York State troopers after allegedly pulling a gun. The incident occurred in Saratoga County around 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, on Route 9 in the parking lot of Bethel Saratoga in Saratoga Springs.
