A South Jersey couple was arrested and charged on Saturday, May 10, after they held a child captive for years before her escape, authorities said.
Law enforcement began investigating in Gloucester Township after an 18-year-old girl said she had been held captive for years and was the victim of sexual abuse, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay and Gloucester Township Police Chief David Harkins said.

Two New York men are facing kidnapping charges after picking up a teen they met on social media without permission, police said.
David Hadsell and Mario Sierra, both 20, were arrested on Tuesday, May 6, following an investigation by New York State Police.
Troopers in Montgomery County were called at around 9 p.m. Monday, May 5, for a report of a missing teenager in the town of Root, police said.
The teen had connected with Sierra on social media and was picked up that evening by both Sierra and Hadsell—without the knowledge or permission of the child’s guardian, according to police.
