Driver High On Drugs Hits, Kills Bicyclist, Mom Of 2 In Region, DA Says A Hudson Valley woman was charged with vehicular manslaughter more than two years after an alleged DWI crash that killed a 65-year-old bicyclist and mother of two. Vanessa Lowe, age 62, of Kingston, was arrested Thursday, April 3, after an Ulster County grand jury indicted her in connection with the death of Christine Tarasco. Lowe was behind the wheel of a Honda Accord when she struck Tarasco as she rode her bicycle along Pine Grove Avenue in Kingston on Dec. 27, 2022, according to prosecutors. Fatal Crash: 42-Year-Old Woman ID'd As Victim In Region A 42-year-old woman was killed in a late-night crash in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, near the Speedway gas station on Route 9 in Hyde Park. Authorities identified Monica R. Deyo, from Hyde Park, lying in the roadway with severe, life-threatening injuries. "Despite extensive efforts to administer life-saving measures, she was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene," Benson said.
