Dad Beaten Dead With Baseball Bat Was Defending Teen Daughter On Easter: Prosecutor
A 55-year-old Millville man and his 17-year-old son were charged on Monday, April 21, after killing a father and assaulting his teen daughter over the weekend, authorities said.
On Saturday, April 19, Gus Serbeck's daughter was assaulted by the 17-year-old, referred to as J.H. at the teen's Leamings Mill residence in Millville, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
The next day, Serbeck and his daughter went to their house to confront Eric Hannah about the assault, Webb-McRae said. J.H. and Serbeck met at the front door and began physically fighting, Webb-McRae said.

Violent Parolee Stabbed Man Outside Rotterdam Bar, Police Say
A violent ex-con out on parole is accused of stabbing a man outside a Capital Region bar.
Jason Melendez, 40, of Schenectady, was arrested Wednesday, April 16, in connection with a stabbing attack that left a man hospitalized outside Rotterdam’s Sliderz Bar & Grill.
The incident happened early Saturday morning, April 12, outside the Guilderland Avenue watering hole, according to Rotterdam Police.

A Hudson Valley man was convicted of attempted murder after kidnapping, choking, and trying to stab his ex-girlfriend to death, jurors found.
