A flight school owner from the Hudson Valley who has paved her own path in life since escaping challenging beginnings will appear on the newest season of CBS's "Survivor." Putnam County resident Sue Smey of Putnam Valley will be one of the new cast members of "Survivor 47," which premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. Originally from the upstate NY Broome County town of Kirkwood, Smey, who is 59 years old, comes from a self-described rough childhood, according to her interviews with Parade and Entertainment Weekly. 'Total Shock': 34-Year-Old Air Force Veteran Killed In Capital Region Crash Had 'Heart Of Gold'
Tributes are pouring in for a beloved Air Force veteran following his untimely death in the region. Albany County resident Michael Furch, age 34, of Guilderland, died following a single-vehicle crash on I-787 in Albany on Thursday, June 20. New York State Police said Furch was operating a motorcycle when he lost control and struck a concrete barrier while exiting I-787 on the flyover ramp to I-90.
