3 Rescued After Dive Boat Sinks Near 1888 Shipwreck Off Long Island Three people were rescued after their diving boat sank near the site of a shipwreck off the coast of Long Island. It happened at around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, nearly three miles southwest of Long Beach. The US Coast Guard Sector Long Island responded after receiving text messages saying a boat was taking on water near the SS Iberia shipwreck with three people in the water. 4 Rescued After Sailboat Overturns On Long Island Sound Emergency responders from two counties teamed up to rescue several people after a sailboat overturned on the Long Island Sound. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 Marine 7 of the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit responded for reports of an overturned sailboat.  With the assistance of the Westchester Police Department, all four occupants were removed from the water and the sail boat was towed to shore by Town of North Hempstead Bay Constable.  The FDNY Marine Bureau was also at scene.  There were no injuries reported.

20-Year-Old, Furry Friend Rescued From Patchogue Marina A man and his dog have some officers to thank for rescuing them from a Long Island marina. The early-morning incident happened in Patchogue, at Mascot Dock and Marina, at around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. Suffolk County Police said a 20-year-old Holbrook man was crabbing when his dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, jumped into the water. The man jumped in after her but was unable to exit the water. Fortunately for the pair, two Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers responded in their boat and pulled them to safety.  Both man and dog were unharmed.

Apparent Drowning: Babylon Woman Pulled From Connetquot River ID'd In Oakdale Authorities are investigating the apparent drowning of a woman on Long Island. The incident happened Sunday morning, Aug. 4, in Oakdale. An employee of the Oakdale Yacht Club, located at 520 Shore Drive, called 911 at 8:07 a.m. after observing a woman in the Connetquot River.  The woman, Catherine Andreau, age 62, of Babylon, was pulled from the water and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Suffolk County Police.  An investigation determined that Andreau, who was staying on a houseboat, jumped into the water at 1:30 a.m. to rescue her dog.  The dog was&nbs…
