A 19-year-old Capital Region teen has been charged with the alleged rape of a victim who was "incapable" of consent. The incident occurred in Schenectady County in Princetown in August. According to New York State Police Trooper Stephanie O'Neil, on Sept. 11, troopers arrested Albany County resident Jack Jimenez, age 19, of Glenmont, a hamlet in the town of Bethlehem, for rape. A 32-year-old Hudson Valley man has been charged with allegedly smothering his sister to death at their home. The Dutchess County District Attorney's office said the incident occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2021, at 58 Harts Village Road in the village of Millbrook. Mark Dedaj, of the village of Millbrook, was charged on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with the murder of Maureen Nelson-Lanzi, said Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi. Person Jumps From Bridge In Region
Dive teams, fire departments, and EMS personnel are searching for a person who jumped from a bridge in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge in Beacon around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17. After some 27 years, detectives have solved the cold case murder of a baby boy in the region. Albany County resident Keri Mazzuca, age 52, of Altamont, was charged in connection with the Sunday, Sept. 7, 1977 homicide, on Saturday, Sept. 14. A woman from the region has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection to the 2022 death of her partner's 14-year-old daughter. An 18-year-old man was killed during a head-on crash in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the intersection of Route 343 and Altamont Road in the town of Washington (Millbrook). A statewide alert has been issued for a New York girl who's been missing for over a week. Gianna L. Thomas, age 16, was last seen leaving her Franklin County residence on County Road 20 in town of Constable on Saturday, Aug. 24, according to New York State Police. She's described as being 5-foot-7, 117 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes. No clothing description was released. Fatal Crash: 31-Year-Old From Capital Region ID'd As Victim
A 31-year-old motorist was killed after crashing into a tree. The incident happened around 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, in Columbia County. An investigation determined that a motorcycle driven by Schenectady County resident Randall D. Collins, age 31, of the town of Glenville, was traveling east on Route 28 in the town of Kinderhook when he went off the south shoulder, through a field and struck a tree, according to New York State Police. Police are renewing calls for answers two decades after a man was beaten to death in the region. Montgomery County resident Brian Galusha, of Fultonville, was 31 years old when he was found severely injured and bleeding in the town of Charleston, on North Green Road, early on July 25, 2004. He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center where he later died. An autopsy revealed Galusha died from skull fractures and brain injury caused by blunt force trauma. Three people were killed in a head-on highway crash in the region. The Greene County wreck happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday, July 20, on Route 23 in the town of Windham.
