21-Year-Old Accused Of Violating Protection Order While In Custody For Second Time In Month
A man is facing charges after allegedly violating an order of protection while incarcerated for the second time in the span of a month, authorities said.
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office reported that Brandon Mima, age 21, of Beacon, currently held at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center, is accused of contacting two individuals protected by the order via telephone. He was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 20, and charged with:

Hundreds of residents, city officials, and firefighters turned out to unveil a fire department's new station, which consolidates three stations into one.

DMV Nabs Trio Running Unlicensed Used Car Dealership In Region
Following a two-year investigation, three men were nabbed running an alleged unlicensed used car dealership in the region.
In Dutchess County, the trio -- Raed Nesheiwat, age 57; Lakeia Parker, age 41, and Marceise Livesay, age 26 -- were arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Poughkeepsie.
According to Water McClure of the state Division of Motor Vehicles, the investigation found that the three sold more than 150 vehicles out of a building and parking lot at 20-22 Pershing Ave., in Poughkeepsie, without a legitimate dealer license.

A man in the region is headed for prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge of attempted assault and possession of narcotics.
Dutchess County resident Rakim Paulin, age 43, of Beacon, pleaded on Thursday, Nov. 14, according to the Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi.
"The defendant's involvement in both a violent assault and the illegal drug trade shows a clear disregard for the law and the lives of others, Parisi said.

An alleged Hudson Valley drug dealer was busted by a drug task force following an investigation, and making "buys."
Dutchess County resident Haitham A. Dasan, age 48, of Poughkeepsie was picked up by the District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force on Thursday, Nov. 1 in an of Poughkeepse known as the "South Side."
According to Det. Sgt. Adam Harris with the task force, agents have been investigating the sale of narcotics and other drugs in the area, specifically the sale of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine (crystal meth).

Man Attempts To Set Fire To Deli With Customers, Employees Inside: Police
A former deli employee in the region was nabbed for allegedly attempting to light a business on fire with employees and customers inside.
The incident occurred in Dutchess County on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Main Street Deli & Grocery at 390 Main St. in Beacon.
According to Beacon Police Chief Thomas Figlia, after arriving on the scene, officers identified Westchester resident Shane Williams, age 39, of Peekskill, as the suspect.

A Hudson Valley man was killed after allegedly losing control of his 2023 Toyota Camry and hitting several trees.
The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, on the Taconic State Parkway in LaGrange.
According to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police, an investigation determined Putnam County resident Vikrant K. Sharma, age 45, of Putnam Valley, was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and left the roadway for unknown reasons before striking several trees.

A new poll shows Democrat Josh Riley with a four-point lead in the hotly contested 19th Congressional District 19 race against Republican incumbent Marc Molinaro.
The poll, produced by SurveyUSA for News Channel 13 in Albany, found the two in a tight race but with the potential for a different result from the showdown between the same candidates two years ago.
In 2022, Molinaro beat Riley by 1.6 points, or 4,500 votes.
