15-Year-Old Stabbed Teen Who Tried To Break Up Fight At Suffolk Co. Mall, Police Say Nearly a month after a teenager was stabbed during a fight at a Long Island mall, a suspect is behind bars. The incident happened in Lake Grove, outside the food court at Smith Haven Mall, just before 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, as Daily Voice reported. Suffolk County Police said a small group of people got into a fight and a 16-year-old boy who tried to break it up was stabbed. Mall Net 18-Year-Old Felony Charges An 18-year-old man is facing weapons charges in connection with a brawl at a Long Island mall on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Tavion Elting, of East Patchogue, was indicted for criminal possession of a weapon and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Dec. 20. Prosecutors said Elting was involved in a fight in the food court at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove just after 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.
