Long Island House Fire Leaves Family Dog Dead A house fire on Long Island left a dog dead. The blaze began at about 4 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17 on Seaman Road in Jericho. Responders arrived to find the home engulfed in flames from the second floor and heavy smoke throughout.  All residents made it out safely, though the family’s dog was found dead inside.  The Nassau County PD Arson Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal are investigating. Firefighters from Jericho, with assistance from Syosset, Hicksville, Westbury, Plainview, Bethpage, South Farmingdale, Glenwood, and Carle Place, responded and extinguished the fire.

Fatal House Fire: 62-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Nesconset A Long Island resident was killed in a house fire. The blaze broke out around 5:25 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in Nesconset. First responders rushed to the scene at Highland Place after a 911 call. Thomas Walz, age 62, a resident of the home, was taken out of the house by responders.  Walz was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  There were no other people in the house at the time of the fire, and no other injuries were reported. 1 Killed After House Fire Breaks Out On Long Island One person died in an overnight house fire on Long Island. The blaze broke out at around 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in Seaford. First responders observed the second floor of the home on Crescent Cove Drive engulfed in flames.  The Seaford Fire Department extinguished the flames, but the residence sustained extensive damage.  An 85-year-old man was removed from the residence and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 8, by a hospital physician.
