Duo Nabbed For Having Fires Amid Burn Ban In Region: Police Two 46-year-old men received summonses after having fires on their properties in the region amid a statewide burn ban, authorities said.  Both incidents happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Nov. 17, and were in violation of Gov. 45-Year-Old Killed After Losing Control Of Car, Hitting Trees On Taconic Parkway, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was killed after allegedly losing control of his 2023 Toyota Camry and hitting several trees. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, on the Taconic State Parkway in LaGrange. According to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police, an investigation determined Putnam County resident Vikrant K. Sharma, age 45, of Putnam Valley, was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed and left the roadway for unknown reasons before striking several trees.   Sharma was pronounced dead on the scene by responding paramedics, Hicks said…

Hudson Valley Woman Competing For $1M On 'Survivor' A flight school owner from the Hudson Valley who has paved her own path in life since escaping challenging beginnings will appear on the newest season of CBS's "Survivor."  Putnam County resident Sue Smey of Putnam Valley will be one of the new cast members of "Survivor 47," which premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m.  Originally from the upstate NY Broome County town of Kirkwood, Smey, who is 59 years old, comes from a self-described rough childhood, according to her interviews with Parade and Entertainment Weekly.  During these early years, she would stay on her …
