A 54-year-old Pennsylvania man has been sentenced after admitting to taking a 5-year-old girl for sex in Virginia and New York, the US Department of Justice announced on Wednesday, Sept. 25. John Oathout, of Harrisburg, PA, was sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Brenda K. Sannes in Syracuse, NY on Friday, Sept. 20. He'll serve 25 years in federal prison followed by 20 years of supervised release, and he'll be a registered sex offender for the remainder of his life, according to the USDOJ release. A bartender in the region was busted for allegedly increasing tip amounts on credit cards to increase her pay. Dutchess County resident Melissa Dinsmore, 33, of Wappinger, was charged by the New York State Police on Friday, Sept. 20. According to Trooper AJ Hicks, the owner of the Publick House Restaurant and Bar in Pleasant Valley alerted police to the possible crime after being notified of the fraud by a customer. Man From Region Accused Of Sexually Abusing Young Child For Years
A Hudson Valley man has been remanded to jail in connection with an ongoing sexual abuse investigation. Dutchess County resident Michael Tyndale, age 52, of Poughkeepsie, was charged on Thursday, Sept. 19, in Poughkeepsie. According to Poughkeepsie Police, Tyndale allegedly sexually abused a victim beginning at the age of 10 for four years. Tyndale was charged with predatory sexual assault and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail. The investigation continues. Detectives were assisted by the team at the Child Advocacy Center.
