Woman, 60, Critically Injured After Strike By Teen Driver: Nassau County Police A 60-year-old woman was critically injured after being struck by a teenage driver in Wantagh, Nassau County police announced on Monday, Feb. 10. The woman was attempting to cross Wantagh Avenue eastbound near Laurel Lane when she was hit by a 2015 Honda driven by a 17-year-old girl at 3:38 p.m., detectives said. She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital by the Wantagh Fire Department, where she remains in critical condition, police said. The teen driver stayed at the scene, and no other injuries were reported. The Homicide Squad is continuing to investigate.

Man Charged With Arson After Fireworks Burn Pair Of Long Island Homes, Shed A 33-year-old Long Island man was charged with arson after giving a firework to an 11-year-old to ignite, which then burned a shed and two homes. The incident occurred in Levittown around 8:50 a.m., Thursday, July 4, on Red Maple Drive North. According to Nassau County Police detectives, officers responded to 128 Red Maple Drive North for reports of a fire.
