Long Island Man Driving Drunk Causes Crash Hospitalizing 2, Police Say A man has been accused of driving drunk after a crash causing severe injuries during the height of the evening commute on Long Island. The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in Hauppauge. Miller Place resident John Whaley, age 52,  was driving a 2021 Nissan Kicks southbound on Veterans Memorial Highway., according to Suffolk County Police. Man Driving Drunk With Child In Car Nearly Crashes Into Patrol Cruiser On Long Island: Police A man allegedly driving drunk with a child in the car is accused of running a red light and nearly crashing into a marked police vehicle at a Long Island intersection.
