The second named storm of the 2024 hurricane season is projected to trek north through the US this coming week. According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Beryl, which is now churning in the Gulf of Mexico, is predicted to make landfall in south Texas as a hurricane on Monday morning, July 8. A newly named, rapidly strengthening tropical storm is likely to become the first hurricane of the 2024 season. Tropical Storm Beryl, the second named storm since the season began on Saturday, June 1, is now located about 820 miles east-southeast of Barbados. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 miles per hour and is moving west at 23 miles per hour. Highest Number Of Storms Ever Predicted For 2024 Hurricane Season
Get set for what could potentially be one of the most active hurricane seasons ever, according to a brand-new forecast by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasters at the Climate Prediction Center. The outlook, released Thursday, May 23, predicts an 85 percent chance of an above-normal season, a 10 percent chance of a near-normal season, and a 5 percent chance of a below-normal season.
