48-Year-Old Dies From Injuries Days After Hit-Run Nassau County Crash A man has died from injuries several days after a hit-and-run crash on Long Island. The victim was struck by a vehicle in Elmont at around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 while crossing Hempstead Turnpike at Elmont Road.  The vehicle left the scene westbound on Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau County Police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. According to Nassau County Police, multiple disturbances were reported at UBS Arena, located at 2400 Hempstead Turnpike, during the venue’s MegaBash MX event, which saw multiple popular bands and singers gather under one roof.
