Combative Driver Injures Officer After Crash In Bellmore, Police Say A man is accused of assaulting a police officer following a car crash on Long Island. The incident happened in Bellmore, near the intersection of Bellmore Avenue and Merrick Road, shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14. Nassau County Police said 63-year-old Charles Klimovich, of Bellmore, was involved in a car crash and refused to give officers his information to document the incident. Klimovich reportedly became combative and attempted to flee the scene. According to Nassau County Police, the pair was caught following a Franklin Square incident on Saturday, June 22.
