The fatal accident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Loring Road, detectives said. Gerhard Frobart, 89, of Farmingdale, was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus southbound with Ella Gimpel, 88, of East Meadow, as his passenger when the car veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole, police said.
