Toddler, Grandparents Lose Home, Daycare In 'Unimaginable' Lindenhurst Fire
The community is rallying around a Long Island family after their home and business was destroyed in a fire.
Flames broke out at a two-story residence, located in Lindenhurst on 51st Street, at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8.
The house is the site of Mama Rutty’s Daycare, owned by Esmeralda Mejia, according to state records.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the North Lindenhurst, Copiague, and East Farmingdale fire departments. Photos from the scene showed much of the home was gutted.

Trio Nabbed For Murder Of North Amityville 48-Year-Old In East Farmingdale
Three men have been charged with murder after a victim was found dead on the side of a Long Island roadway.
Suffolk County Police First Precinct officers in East Farmingdale responded to Garity Place after a passerby called 911 to report a man on the side of the road at approximately 1:35 a.m. Saturday, June 22.
The man, Juan Carlos Diaz Geronimo, age 48, of North Amityville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Farmingdale Fire Department.
It was determined that Diaz Geronimo, 48, of North Amityville, was strangled, according to police.
