A Connecticut man is facing felony charges after a brutal altercation left a Mahopac resident critically injured, Carmel Police announced in an updated release on Sunday, Dec. 8. Officers were called to the scene on Curry Road in Mahopac at 5:17 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. They arrived to find two men in the roadway. A 44-year-old Mahopac man was unconscious with life-threatening injuries, while 32-year-old Brooks Lawrence of Connecticut was detained at the scene. A Long Island woman formally accepted responsibility after her dog mauled a 2-year-old boy and injured the child’s uncle. Amy Willi, age 45, of Mastic, pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Sept. 25. A 20-year-old man will spend decades behind bars for fatally stabbing a man in a Long Island traffic circle in broad daylight. Gelber Lopez-Perez, of Riverhead, was sentenced to 22 years in prison in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, Sept. 10, after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of 26-year-old Tony Fernando Alvarado-Ajcuc. Shotgun-Toting 11-Year-Old Lands Bayville Man In Handcuffs, Police Say
A Long Island man is facing criminal charges after an 11-year-old boy was seen carrying a shotgun outside his home, police said. The incident happened in Bayville, at a residence on 7th Street, at around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. Nassau County Police said a 13-year-old boy was riding his bicycle when an 11-year-old boy carrying a shotgun came outside and told the teen to get away from his house.
