A man was struck by a tractor-trailer on Sunrise Highway in Wantagh early Thursday afternoon, Nov. 13, shutting down the eastbound lanes. The collision happened just after 12:30 p.m. between Sunrise Highway and Morris Gate, Nassau County Police said. Officers arrived to find a male pedestrian who had been hit by a truck. He was conscious at the scene as first responders began treatment. The eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway were closed between Oakland Avenue and Morris Gate while officers investigated the crash. Reported Truck Explosion On LIE Causes Big Delays
A serious incident blocked most of the eastbound Long Island Expressway in Jericho early Wednesday afternoon, June 18. Emergency crews responded to I-495 near Exit 41 for reports of an explosion at around 12:15 p.m. Arriving crews found a car carrier truck that had its engine explode while under the Broadway overpass, according to preliminary radio traffic. Car Fire Blocking Multiple Lanes Of Long Island Highway During Evening Commute
A car fire was blocking multiple lanes of a Long Island highway during the evening commute Tuesday, Jan. 21. Fire and aid crews were dispatched to the Wantagh State Parkway in East Meadow for a car fire in the southbound lanes near Stewart Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. All but one of the eastbound lanes were blocked by emergency responders, Department of Transportation cameras showed.
