A truck carrying asphalt overturned at a busy Old Westbury intersection on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 7, colliding with a school bus and SUV and sending six people, including two children, to the hospital, police said. The crash occurred at 3:22 p.m. at the intersection of Store Hill Road (LIE North Service Road) and Post Road, according to Old Westbury Police Chief Stuart Cameron. A man was seriously injured in a crash involving multiple vehicles on Norfleet Lane in Coram, Suffolk County Police announced on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. Anthony Maynes, 33, of Ronkonkoma, was driving a 2024 Mercedes Benz SUV westbound on Norfleet Lane when he attempted to pass another car but sideswiped a 2007 Toyota Camry. The SUV then hit a parked 2015 Toyota Tacoma, broke through a fence, struck a tree, and came to a stop, police said. Amazon Driver Flees After Hitting Customer's Commack House, Police Say
Prime delivery it was not.Authorities are asking for help in locating an Amazon delivery driver accused of hitting a customer’s house with their car and then fleeing. The incident happened in Commack, at a residence on Hayrick Lane, at around 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16. Suffolk County Police said the delivery driver pulled their Chevrolet SUV into the customer’s driveway but forgot to set the parking brake. Police are seeking tips after a delivery driver was carjacked and assaulted on Long Island. The incident happened in Medford, in front of a home on Race Avenue near Watch Hill Avenue, at around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. A motorcyclist was critically injured after police say a car cut across his path on Long Island. The incident unfolded on Saturday, Nov. 9, at about 4:45 p.m. in Lakeview, on Glen Road. The 48-year-old man was riding a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle northbound when a 42-year-old driver of a 2019 Acura SUV made a turn in front of him, resulting in the collision, according to Nassau County Police. A man who was involved in a minor crash on the New York Thruway was killed when he stepped out of his vehicle to inspect the damage and was struck by a 2018 Ford SUV. Saul Clark, 55, of Paterson, New Jersey, had gotten out of his vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-87 in West Nyack when he was struck by the passing SUV driven by a Nyack woman just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel said.
