The incident happened in Riverhead, at the Lower Peconic River Fishing Access Site near West Main Street, at around 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Riverhead Town Police said the 44-year-old victim told officers a man armed with a baseball bat struck him in the face before fleeing the scene on foot. Death Of 7-Month-Old Under Investigation In Riverhead An investigation is under way after a 7-month-old died on Long Island. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting that the baby at a Riverhead residence, on 3rd Street, was unconscious and not breathing. CPR was performed, but the infant was pronounced dead at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. Riverhead Town PD detectives and the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the circumstances that led to the child's death. 2 Store Clerks Accused Of Selling Alcohol To Minors During Riverhead Compliance Check Two Long Island businesses were cited for allegedly selling alcohol to minors. Compliance checks were conducted at 19 retail vendors throughout the Town of Riverhead on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The operation targeted the sale of alcohol products to patrons under the age of 21. The following vendors were found not to comply: Mobil, 3705 Middle Country Road, Calverton Shell, 626 W. Main Street, Riverhead Faisal Mahmood, age 28, of Ronkonkoma, and an employee of the Mobil gas station, and Mehmet Tunc, age 64, of Riverhead, and an employee of the Shell station, were each charged with unla…
