Leaders on Long Island are honoring a late police detective who died from cancer caused by his work at Ground Zero. In Syosset, the corner of Florence and Edward avenues was officially rededicated as Detective Lieutenant Christopher Cizmarik Way on Thursday, Aug. 29. Police on Long Island are asking for help in locating a 14-year-old girl who was reported missing. Margy Sandoval was last seen in Manhasset at around noon on Monday, Aug. 26, according to Nassau County Police. Relatives reported her missing at 6 p.m. Sandoval is Hispanic, 5-foot-1 and 220 pounds, with black and red hair, and brown eyes. A New York resident was one of two CEOs convicted in federal court of a $1 billion fraud scheme involving thousands of investors. Long Island resident David Gentile, age 57, of Manhasset, and Jeffry Schneider, age 55, of Austin, Texas, were found guilty in federal court on all counts of an indictment charging them with conspiracy to commit securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and securities fraud.
