NJ Pilot Killed In Fiery Plane Crash At NY Airport (Update) An 80-year-old pilot from New Jersey was killed when his small plane crashed at a Hudson Valley airport on Saturday, Sept. 27, state police said in an update. Gerald "Jerry" Cotter, 80, of Milford (Hunterdon County), was attempting to take off from Kobelt/Wallkill Airport in Shawangunk, NY when the small plane crashed and caught fire around 2:25 p.m., NYSP said. Cotter, who was the only person on board, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

New Update: Massive Brush Fire In Riverhead Covers 20 Acres It took almost 10 hours for responders to contain massive brush fire on Long Island is being battled by 18 responding departments. The blaze broke out at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in Riverhead in a wooded area to the east side of 3000 Sound Avenue. It was finally contained at around 10 a.m. Saturday. A total of 20 acres were affected by the blaze, according to the Town of Riverhead Police. In addition to the Riverhead FD, 17 other departments are assisting at the scene.
