21-Year-Old Hit, Killed Firefighter On Long Island Before Fleeing Scene, Police Say
A 21-year-old suspect is behind bars weeks after a hit-and-run crash killed a volunteer firefighter on Long Island.
Emergency crews in Hewlett were called about a fatal crash near Broadway and Everit Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Jeffrey Frank, 74, was crossing Broadway when he was struck by an SUV traveling northbound. Witnesses told Nassau County Police that a male driver exited the vehicle, dragged Frank to the side of the road, and then fled the scene.
Frank, of Hewlett, was pronounced dead at the hospital, as Daily Voice reported.

Police have charged two men in the killing of a 32-year-old Amityville man found dead on a Wantagh roadway in September, according to Nassau County authorities.
Police say Anderson Ramirez, 34, of Central Islip, and Alex R. DeLarosa, 27, of Bay Shore, were arrested on Dec. 4 in connection to the fatal shooting of Yinauri A. Taveras, 32. The victim, originally from Amityville, had been splitting time between Puerto Rico and Westbury.

Suspect Nabbed After 30-Year-Old From North Babylon Shot, Killed In Broad Daylight
A suspect has been apprehended after a fatal shooting in broad daylight outside a Long Island residence.
It happened around 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30 in Brentwood.
Joshua E. Jasmin, age 30, of North Babylon, was transported via Brentwood Legion Ambulance to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, Romeo Campbell, age 23, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
He was held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, Aug. 31.
Unlicensed Levittown Woman Driving Drunk With 2 Kids Onboard Crashes SUV: Police
An unlicensed Long Island woman has been accused of driving drunk with two children in the SUV after an overnight crash, police said.
The incident happened on Sunday, Aug. 11, just after midnight in Levittown.
According to the Nassau County Police Department, officers responded to Flamingo Road after a report that a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee had hit an unoccupied parked vehicle.
The investigation revealed the driver, Jessica Lemus, age 21, of Levittown, had slurred speech, watery eyes, was unsteady on her feet, and had an odor of alcohol emanating from her breath, police said.
