Dump Truck Catches On Fire, Impacts Traffic On I-84 In Hudson Valley A dump truck fire on Interstate 84 caused major traffic disruptions in Putnam County on Monday morning, Feb. 3, as multiple fire departments responded to battle the flames.  According to the Carmel Fire Department, emergency dispatchers began receiving reports of the fire at 8:35 a.m. The incident occurred in the westbound lanes under the Interstate 684 bridge in Southeast.  The Brewster Fire Department and New York State Police were the first to be dispatched, with Brewster’s fire chief later requesting mutual aid.  Thankfully, no injuries were reported, though traffic in t…

Car Lands On Roof In Early-Morning Hudson Valley Crash A Hudson Valley crash that left a car flipped on its roof caused a road to temporarily close.  The wreck happened in Putnam County on Saturday, Jan. 18 just before 3:30 a.m., when a car overturned on Bucks Hollow Road in Mahopac, according to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department.  The driver was able to escape from their car and refused an ambulance trip, firefighters said. The road was closed for around a half hour until the car could be towed away.

Large Tree Falls On Wires, Sparks Blaze In Hudson Valley Part of a busy Hudson Valley road is closed after a large tree fell across it, striking power lines in the process.  The stretch of Bucks Hollow Road between Astor Drive and Route 6 in the Putnam County town of Carmel is currently impassable thanks to a fallen tree, the Carmel Highway Department announced on Friday, Aug. 9 just before 4:30 p.m.  The tree sparked a fire after it fell on power lines, as shown in photos of the incident released by the department.  NYSEG has since been notified. Driver Injured After Car Overturns On Hudson Valley Roadway A driver was hospitalized following a rollover crash on a busy Hudson Valley road.  The crash happened in Putnam County on Monday afternoon, July 22, when an Acura flipped on Milltown Road in the village of Brewster near the Connecticut border, according to the Brewster Fire Department.  Arriving first responders found the driver trapped inside the vehicle and were able to free her before taking her to Danbury Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The crash closed Milltown Road on Monday as the scene was cleared, the department said.
