Authorities in the Hudson Valley were kept busy over several days with holding suspects accountable for leaving their pets in hot cars and animal abandonment, officials announced. Man Charged After Abandoning 2 Dogs On Hudson Valley Road, Officials Say
A 64-year-old man faces criminal charges after allegedly abandoning two dogs on the side of a Hudson Valley road, authorities announced. The arrest stemmed from an incident on Thursday, June 6, when the Putnam County SPCA learned that two dachshund mix dogs had been found the day before by a good samaritan on Longfellow Drive in the Lake Carmel area of the town of Kent. A 24-year-old man was hit with a criminal charge after a urine-soaked cat was found abandoned in a plastic crate near a Hudson Valley animal shelter on a rainy day, authorities said. The arrest resulted from the animal's discovery on Thursday, May 16 in Putnam County, when the Putnam Humane Society reported finding a long-haired orange unneutered male cat in a plastic crate near Old Route 6 in Carmel near one of the shelter's entrances.
