Over 1 Kilo of Cocaine Seized After Traffic Stop In Dutchess County
A routine traffic stop in Dutchess County led to the discovery of a significant amount of cocaine and the arrests of two suspects, police announced.
The incident happened on Tuesday, Jan. 21, when state troopers pulled over a 2012 Dodge Charger on Route 55 in the Town of LaGrange for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, New York State Police announced on Thursday, Jan. 23.
During their investigation, troopers discovered approximately 1.22 kilograms of cocaine inside the vehicle, authorities said.

A Poughkeepsie man wanted in connection with a significant drug bust in East Fishkill has been arrested following a community tip, authorities announced.
Michael S. Birney, 32, was taken into custody on Sunday, Jan. 5, after Drug Task Force Agents located him near Hooker Avenue and South Hamilton Street. Birney was arrested without incident, according to the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
Birney's arrest comes nearly a month after those of Stephen Bai and Angela Martinez, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

Driver Charged In Death Of Sullivan County Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash: Police
A 29-year-old Liberty woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Sullivan County, and the driver is now facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving while impaired, State Police report.
The crash occurred early Friday, Jan. 5, on Glen Wild. Road near Pine Tree Road in the town of Thompson, said Trooper Jennifer Alvarez.
According to Alvarez, a 2018 Toyota RAV 4, driven by Sadia K. Thomas, 31, of Woodridge, was traveling northbound on Glen Wild Road when it struck Vanessa M. Hopper, age 29, of Liberty.
