A 19-year-old man who allegedly broke into a shuttered prison in Dutchess County ended up trapped in a cell and had to be rescued before being arrested, state police said.
The bizarre incident happened just after midnight on Saturday, June 14, at the former Downstate Correctional Facility on Red Schoolhouse Road in Fishkill, New York State Police announced.
Troopers responded to a report of trespassing and found the caller, Cody M. Mallon, of Argyle, locked inside one of the prison’s cells.

A man has been arrested and charged with arson after allegedly confessing to setting fire to his own apartment in a blaze that tore through a three-story building in Putnam County, police said.

18-Year-Old Murdered Young Man In Region, Police Say
An 18-year-old man is behind bars and accused of murdering a young man in the Capital Region.
Saratoga County resident Jaiden Ildefanso, of Clifton Park, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder on Sunday, June 1, in connection with the death of 20-year-old Simon Brault, deputies said.
Brault, who is also from Clifton Park, died at Albany Medical Center on Saturday, May 31, after being stabbed.

A traffic stop in Putnam County led to the arrest of two Dutchess County residents after police say officers discovered multiple bundles of heroin inside the vehicle.
The arrests happened on Thursday, May 8, around 7:20 p.m., when Town of Kent police stopped a car near the intersection of Drew Road and Ludingtonville Road (Route 43), the department announced on Wednesday, May 14.
