The mixed bag of precipitation began shortly after 3 p.m., with most parts of the area seeing steady snow.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Approximately 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation is possible along with freezing rain followed by rain, the weather service warned.
Snow is likely to begin falling on Monday, mainly after 3 p.m., with a high near 32 and wind chills of 5 and 15. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
Snow, sleet and freezing rain will continue into Tuesday morning, followed by the changeover to rain as temperatures rise, according to the National Weather Service. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches is possible with more ice and rain before the changeover occurs.
The high on Tuesday will be in the mid to upper 40s, with heavy rain. A total of 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible with some parts of the area seeing flash flooding, especially along the coast.
