Dangerously low wind-chill values of between -15 and -25 degrees will ring in the New Year at around midnight. The actual temperature will be somewhere in the single digits. (See chart above.)

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect through 1 p.m. Monday in Dutchess and surrounding counties.

Frostbite can occur in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

It will be continued cold on New Year's Day with the high temperature around 12 degrees and wind-chill values against below zero.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny but still cold, with a high in the upper teens as the area will see its seventh straight day without the high temperature climbing above the freezing mark.
