State transportation officials are advising drivers that a portion of the right lane on I-84 westbound between Exit 17 (Ludingtonville Road) and Exit 16, (Taconic State Parkway) is expected to remain closed for an indeterminant amount of time, following a tractor-trailer accident.
The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m., Thursday, when the driver lost control of the tractor-trailer on westbound I-84 near East Fishkill and ended up hanging over the bridge overtop of Route 52 dumping debris over the roadway, said state police said.
The extended closure will enable crews to assess and perform emergency maintenance repairs and motorists should anticipate delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
Drivers are also being asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
State police there were no injuries.
