According to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, the incident happened in Putnam County on Friday, April 26, just before 6:40 p.m., when a blaze began inside a unit at a condominium building in Mahopac on East Lake Boulevard. Vehicle Loses Control, Hits Tree On Taconic Parkway In Northern Westchester Emergency crews were sent to the Taconic State Parkway in Northern Westchester after a vehicle lost control and struck a tree, injuring the driver.  The incident happened on Thursday, Aug. 24 around 6:45 p.m., when fire crews responded to the southbound Taconic State Parkway in the area of the Mohansic Avenue ramp for a reported crash.  According to the Yorktown Heights Fire Department, arriving crews found out that a vehicle had spun out and hit a tree after losing control.  The driver was later taken to an area trauma center by the Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.&…

Northern Westchester Man Jumps To His Death From Bridge On Taconic Parkway A Westchester County man who jumped to his death from the AMVETS Memorial Bridge off the Taconic State Parkway has been identified, according to the New York State Police. Xiaohu Liu, 53, of Briarcliff Manor was recovered by the Yorktown Heights Fire Department marine unit around 1 p.m. Sunday from the Croton Reservoir, said Trooper A.J. Hicks, public information officer for Troop K. Although the event remains under investigation, Hicks said Liu’s death is “consistent with suicide.”

Car Bursts Into Flames After Crash On Taconic Parkway A driver suffered injuries when a car burst into flames after crashing on a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway Thursday night. The southbound crash occurred around 8 p.m. near Route 134 in Yorktown, with the vehicle landing on its side before the fire broke out. While responding, Yorktown Heights Fire Department units were updated that the driver may have been ejected from the vehicle. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the occupant was out of the car and had not been ejected.
