A bear cub who had a plastic chicken feeder bucket stuck on its head was recently rescued by state Environmental Conservation officers. Four Baby Squirrels Rescued After Tails Found Stuck Together In Hudson Valley
Four baby squirrels found tied together by their tails were rescued by a wildlife officer after receiving a report of the squirrels in distress. The babies were discovered in Dutchess County last month when the state Department of Environmental Conservation responded to the call from the hamlet of Verbank, in the town of Union Vale. Muskrat Stuck In Fence Rescued By Wildlife Officer In Area
A muskrat stuck in a chain-link fence in the area was saved with the help of a wildlife officer. The incident took place on Friday, April 24 in Dutchess County when the Department of Environmental Conservation officers received word of the muskrat's situation in the city of Beacon. ECO officer Michael Hameline responded and safely removed the muskrat from the fence without causing further injury to the animal or damage to the fence, the DEC said. Injured Owl Fledgling Saved By Wildlife Officers In Area
An injured owl fledgling was saved by members of the Department of Environmental Conservation after finding it in Sullivan County. The owl was saved after the DEC received a report on Wednesday, April 22, in the town of Neversink. Department officers Glen Parker and Christopher Doroski responded and were able to local the owl and capture it without incident. The owl was taken to the New Paltz Animal Hospital where it was evaluated and determined to be underweight and suffering from an injured keel. A black bear that was injured and unresponsive after being hit by a vehicle was rescued by a team of responders from several agencies. The incident happened in Dutchess County on Thursday night, April 23 on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley. The bear, though unresponsive, had no obvious external wounds and appeared to have been struck by a motor vehicle, state police from the Poughkeepsie barracks said.
